Pet: Major

I grew up in what my wife calls Pleasantville. I grew up with my mom and dad and older brother and younger sister in Arlington, Texas. I graduated from Arlington High School in 1995 and spent the next 3 years of my life enjoying Austin, Texas as much as I could and doing what I needed to to get through The University of Texas. I much enjoyed my time in Austin, learning how to live on my own, learning how others lived very much alone, and growing in my faith. I have always seen my time in Austin as very much a time where I learned to be firmly planted on the Truth of God and to attempt to see the world through God's eyes rather than my own. University was a time when the religion of what I did on Sundays, was replaced by a faith that sustained me and change my very life.

After Austin, was 3 years living in the Chicago area. I figure Chicago to be just about the best place in the world to live if you have to live outside Texas. I had a great time learning and continuing to grow at both Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary (as if either school could think of a longer name). After those 3 years of classroom work, I came back to Texas to do a semester of Clinical Pastoral Education at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

After graduation from seminary, I have served in two appointments before coming here to Foundation in June of 2007. I was first appointed to the two point charge of Bangs/Mullin in Oct. 2002, and then as an associate at First UMC in Killeen in June of 2004. I have been thankful for each of my appointments and the diversity of the congregations I have been so fortunate to have served. I truly am amazed at the way in which God can get you just where you need to be when you need to be there.

I have been here at Foundation since June of 2007, and I feel so blessed to have this great responsibility to lead this congregation. Here at Foundation we are a community who truly strive to know God more and to grow God's kingdom. I am so proud of the hard work of faith development that goes on here that is carried beyond the walls of the building.

I grew up in Central Missouri and came to know Christ when I was eight. My mom was always adamant about going to church, therefore I got to see God work in my life and be involved in a great youth group. I sensed God calling me to full-time ministry when I was in high school, and accepted that calling whole-heartedly. I went to Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO and majored in Biblical Studies. During college I met my wonderful wife Katie, and we were married in May 2004. In the fall of 2005 I started seminary at George W. Truett Theological Seminary in Waco, TX. I graduated with my Master's of Divinity in May 2009 and started working at Foundation in August 2009.

I have a passion for students to know Jesus Christ for all that He is worth! I desire to focus my life on teaching, discipling, and leading students to rely on God's Word, the Holy Spirit, and a faithful Christian community. As a youth group, we spend a lot of time learning about God, how to live out our faith daily, and how to have a lot of fun! If you are a student come check us out anytime!

My passion is to lead others to intimately connect with God and others; to live a victorious, anointed life of faith in Christ vs a defeated life in the "survival mode" and to base every decision in my life on the Word of God. My purpose in life is to share Jesus and glorify the Father. My spiritual gifts are encouragement and teaching. I want to say or do only what God inspires and anoints. My music abilities include worship leader, songwriter, vocal, piano, organ, guitar, melodica; traditional hymns and contemporary; private music teacher; private Christian and public school music teacher experience.

I was raised in a happy, Christian home and accepted Christ as my Savior at age 9. I graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with my Music degree. I have one son, Jacob. He is a Naval officer and lives with his wife, Trish in Florida. I recently married James Rogers. I feel honored and blessed to be a part of the Foundation family.

Being on staff at Foundation has been a homecoming for me....in more ways than one. I was born and raised here in Temple, moving back a few years ago after more than 30 years away. I came to a saving knowledge of Jesus at an early age, was active in a local church and then felt called into special ministry as a teenager. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Howard Payne University, with a major in Christian Ministries and a minor in Bible. My spiritual journey has taken many turns over the years, some directly guided by God and some by my own worldly decisions....leading me to claim Jeremiah 29:11 as my life verse: "I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to fulfill my calling by ministering to the ministers and supporting the mission of Foundation in becoming more Christlike and growing God's kingdom. I have been on staff since July of 2008 and look forward to many more years of service with this vibrant congregation.

I have an only son who lives in Tucson, Arizona...along with an only granddaughter. (Pictures provided upon request!!)
